“The brick Pathway to the Memorial will be completed this spring. This is an end to an amazing journey as we have no more room for bricks. This has been a rewarding project since beginning in 2001.”
We started selling the bricks to help fund the bronze Memorial. Our thought was people might want to personalize a brick in memory of their loved one. The laying of the bricks was another project in its self. God sent the best person possible to do that. A man by the name of Kit Kittinger was laying the rock foundation around the base of the Memorial. We asked him if he laid bricks too, and he said yes. So the brick laying project began with Marlene Johnson, Peggy Lafferty and I handing him each brick to be placed. We noticed how he handled the bricks; it was ever so gentle and reverently placed, reading each one as he put it in its final resting place. He has continued to lay all the bricks. Again “Thank you” Kit.
The first brick had just a name. Then messages started to come in on the brick orders. An order came from the Campus Crusade organization, in memory of the 7 girls who were attending a conference at Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch and lost their lives trying to escape the raging waters.
The bricks state; (These women lost their lives, Terri Bissing, June Fujiwara, Rae Ann Johnston, Barbie Leyden, Cathie Loomis, Precy Monongdo, Carol Rhoad.) But they are still alive and they have a message for you… God loves you and created you to know Him personally.
2. People are sinful and separated from God, so…we cannot know Him personally or experience His love…. Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for our sin. Through Him alone we can know God personally and experience God’s love. 4. We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know God personally and experience His love. Live forever with these women in Christ. Pray: “Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I receive you as my Savior and Lord.” Even though these women are gone they still convey this message to the world.
Every brick has a special message. One says; “My sister in Heaven meet you at the bridge” Another one simply says; I’ve Gone Fishin’.
“Thank you” to each of you who placed your memories on a brick and for the donations given so generously to help fund the Memorial. It now stands as a place of solitude and comfort for each and every one of you. Donations are still appreciated and go 100% to the Scholarship fund. Sincerely Barb
